Gisbornes Newest Contemporary Art Gallery and Project Space
Kahukura gallery specializes in contemporary and traditional Indigenous art from Aotearoa NZ and the Pacific nations as well as Asia Pacific.
We celebrate and embrace diversity which is reflected in the art that we exhibit.
We are a Maori owned and operated Gallery within the Turanganui Region which began as a lifelong ambition to enable emerging and recognised artists to exhibit their works in a Kaupapa Maori environment.
Kahukura Gallery is a whanau - family owned business which reflects the values of Maori philosophy.

We originate from Aotea, Great Barrier Island.
We are of the Ngatiwai, and Ngatihine Iwi from Te Taitokerau
My children are Ngati Porou and were born on the coast in Te Puia Springs and here in Gisborne City. It is wonderful to be able to return to their haukainga.
